How can I place a bid for an item in a TeddyDorado auction?
There are three ways to place a bid for the live auction:
1. by attending the auction,
2. by mailing or faxing an absentee bid form (please use the form available here) and/or
3. by telephone (please use the form available here).
Attending the auction
When attending the auction please show your identity card (or passport or driving license) at the information desk to register and to get your bidder paddle before the auction starts. If you are a first-time bidder, you also need to state your address.
All items sold in the auction will be exhibited at specified times before the auction in a public viewing, where the items can be examined. Auctioned items cannot be exchanged for any reason. Please find exhibition times and places here. During the auction the opportunity for examining the items is limited.
Please note that the amount due for buyers consists of the amount reached at acceptance (auction price) plus a 16% buyer´s premium and VAT of currently 19% but only on the premium (total premium amounts are 19.04%). For example if the hammer price was 100 Euro the total amount due will be 119.04 Euro.
To place your bid, simply raise your number board until the auctioneer acknowledges you by clear indication. Generally bids increase in steps of 5 Euro for items starting under 100 Euro, in steps of 10 Euro if the currently offered price lies between 100 Euro and 200 Euro, in steps of 20 Euro for prices between 200 Euro and 300 Euro and so on. Learn more about TeddyDorado´s bidding incrementshere. The auctioneer will announce increasing bids on each item or lot, until only one bidder remains, which will reach acceptance. Each acceptance is subject to a confidential minimum price previously agreed with the seller. If the bidding fails to reach this price, the item or lot will not be sold.
You may pay for your purchase after acceptance, also during the auction, when returning your bidding number. You may pay cash or via PayPal or via credit card (such as MasterCard, Visa or American Express) or via bank-to-bank money transfer. Cheques will only be accepted if agreed upon before the auction. Also the invoice can be mailed to you after the auction. After your payment has been received, you may pick up your purchased items at the auction or at the office of TeddyDorado. Items can also be mailed. All purchases should be paid and picked up or got mailed within three to ten days after the auction.
If you are unable to attend the auction in person, we are happy to execute written bids on your behalf. Please find our absentee bid form in the back of each printed catalogue as well as online here. On the form please indicate the item upon which you wish to bid for as well as the maximum amount you are willing to bid. Completed forms must be returned to the office of TeddyDorado by fax or mail at least 36 hours before the auction is starting. Written bids will only be accepted with the original or faxed signature of the bidder and must be legible. The absentee bidder must indicate his/her full name and postal address.
Absentee bids are handled with great care but without guarantee. When we execute an absentee bid on your behalf, the lot will always be bought for the lowest increment that exceeds all competing bids and which meets or exceeds the starting price. Identical bids will be handled according to prirority.
Successful absentee bidders will receive an invoice after the auction. An additional charge of one Euro per lot will be added. The full purchase price is payable within ten days after the invoice date. Ownership is transfered to the buyer only after complete payment is received. You can pay via bank-to-bank-wire-transfer or via PayPal or via cheque. If you would like to pay us via our PayPal account
there will be an additional fee of 4.0% to the total amount plus 1 Euro as fixed charge to cover bank fees. If you pay via cheque, your purchase will be released upon notice that your cheque has cleared.
Absentee bidders can pick up their items personally at the TeddyDorado Office in Wachtberg close to Bonn/Germany three to ten days after the auction subject to making an appointment. Storage, transport or mailing of the auctioned items are at the expense and risk of the buyer. Instructions for transport must be submitted in writing. Shipping expenses, i.e. postage and handling are included in the invoice and also depend on the postal destination.
Obvious defects have to be notified as soon as possible and not later than 14 days after the auction. Subject to acceptance by the seller the buyer is entitled to get a refund of the full purchase price. Other claims are excluded. Defects already indicated in the catalogue cannot be claimed. Lots can generally not be exchanged.
If you would like to take part in the auction as a remote bidder, you may also use the absentee bid form to register as a telephone bidder. Based on the information you provide on the form, a TeddyDorado´s representative will contact you during the auction prior to your specified items or lot(s) and will relay your bids to the auctioneer. As the number of telephone lines is limited, this service must be requested at least 48 hours before the auction starts. Since the auction house cannot guarantee that a telephone connection can be established, the telephone bidder must make a bid for at least the starting price of the selected catalogue number(s). Please indicate this price on the form and fill in a "T" for telephone bidder. Please do not forget to indicate how we can reach you during the auction. An additional fee of two Euro per lot will be added on the invoice for successful telephone bids from Germany and three Euro per lot for successful telephone bids from abroad.
